DESC Lake City

DESC Lake City represents a continued focus on occupant wellbeing and human-centered design, creating healing spaces for all.

DESC Lake City is the latest building in-design for the Downtown Emergency Service Center. The design responds to the angular nature of the site with a sloped parapet and sharp, yet unobtrusive dominant corner. The building massing maximizes client functionality while maintaining a sense of scale and character within the surrounding neighborhood. This permanent supportive housing building embodies healing-centric design principles, welcoming all.

Criteria For Design

  • Deliver 120 supportive units within a four-story, code-compliant Seattle residential framework.
  • Use massing and envelope articulation to fit neighborhood scale while maintaining project clarity.
  • Prioritize healing-centered interior and exterior spaces for residents, staff, and community interface.
  • Iterate planning through client review cycles to improve operational efficiency and resident dignity.
